Who is responsible for your information
Our Elected News is published by Our Elected LLC, which is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. To exercise any right below, or to ask how your information is handled, write to official@ourelected.com or use our contact page.
Scope
This policy applies to Our Elected News websites and services that link to it. OurElected services may provide additional notices when a feature needs information not described here.
Information we collect
- Information you provide, such as account details, messages, survey responses, newsletter choices, and correction reports.
- Technical and usage information, such as the requested page, time, referring page, browser and device type, approximate location based on IP address, and security events.
- Transaction metadata if paid services are offered. Payment processors handle full payment-card details under their own notices.
How we use information
We use information to provide and secure the service, authenticate accounts, send the confirmed Nightly Briefing, remember preferences, respond to requests, understand service performance, prevent abuse, comply with law, and improve our journalism and products. We do not use sensitive personal information to decide news coverage.
Cookies and similar technologies
Necessary cookies support sign-in, security, and saved preferences. Analytics or advertising technologies may measure readership and ad performance. Where consent is required, non-essential storage and personalized-ad processing are controlled by a consent message before they are used.
Our first-party signup and reading-funnel measurement stores UTC daily event totals only. It does not create an analytics cookie or store a visitor ID, account ID, email, IP address, referrer, page URL, query string, or political-interest profile with those totals.
Google advertising
If advertising is activated, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve and measure ads based on a reader’s visits to this site and other sites. Google’s advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalize ads using those visits. Other approved advertising vendors may also use cookies for personalized advertising.

Where advertising is active, this site does not disable Chrome’s Topics API, so your browser may share a small number of coarse interest topics with advertising vendors instead of relying on cross-site cookies. Chrome lets you review and turn off those topics under Settings → Privacy and security → Ad privacy.
Your privacy choices
Advertising is not currently active on this site. We do not serve Google or other third-party ads on these pages, and we do not set advertising or ad-personalization cookies.
If personalized advertising is activated, it will be served to readers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland only where that reader has consented through a Google-certified consent platform, which is also how consent is refused, managed, and later withdrawn. Readers covered by applicable U.S. state laws can opt out of targeted advertising and of the sale or sharing of personal information, as those terms are defined by applicable law, through that same message or through our contact page.
The control below reopens that consent message when one has loaded on the page. When none is present there is no consent record to change, and the control simply returns you to this section.
When information is shared
We share information with service providers that host, secure, deliver, analyze, or process payments for the service; when you direct us to share it; when required by law; or when necessary to protect people, rights, and the service. Advertising partners receive data as described above and in the consent interface. We do not provide personal information to political campaigns for their targeting.
Retention and security
We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and security. We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
Children
The service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Requests and contact
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to appeal a privacy decision. Submit a request through our contact page. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Changes to this policy
We will post updates here and change the date above. If a change materially affects how we use information, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
