Informational service

Our journalism and civic information are provided for general informational purposes. They are not legal, financial, tax, medical, or voting advice. Primary public records control if a summary or story conflicts with an official source.

Accounts

You are responsible for accurate registration information, protecting your credentials, and activity under your account. You may not use the service to impersonate another person, evade access controls, or interfere with other readers.

Subscriptions and cancellation

Published reporting does not require payment. The optional Supporter subscription is billed monthly at the price shown before checkout. Stripe processes payment details for the publisher. The subscription renews monthly until you cancel it through account billing settings. Cancellation prevents the next renewal; paid access ordinarily continues through the current billing period shown in the Stripe customer portal.

If you believe a charge is incorrect, use our contact page. Nothing in these terms limits refund, cancellation, or consumer rights that applicable law requires.

Acceptable use

You may not attack, scrape at a rate that impairs the service, probe for vulnerabilities without authorization, distribute malware, violate intellectual-property or privacy rights, or use the service unlawfully. Reasonable linking, quotation, and personal or journalistic use remain subject to applicable law.

Content and corrections

We own or license the original site design and editorial content. Government records and other third-party materials retain their own legal status. We may update or correct content as described in our editorial standards.

Advertising and external services

Advertising does not constitute our endorsement of an advertiser, product, candidate, cause, or claim. Links and embedded services from third parties are governed by those parties’ terms and privacy notices, and we are not responsible for their availability or content.

Service changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features and may restrict access needed to protect the service, comply with law, or enforce these terms. We do not guarantee that every feature will always be available or error-free.

Disclaimer and limitation

To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties of uninterrupted availability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the service. Rights that cannot lawfully be waived are not affected.
